About Me:

Hi, I’m Bear 

I’m a young 4-year-old Pekingese boy with a big heart and an even bigger story to tell.

A few weeks ago, I was surrendered to Special Paws Sanctuary. I was in terrible shape, one of my eyes had a severe infection, and the other had popped out and was left untreated for far too long. I was in agony, weak from fighting an infection all by myself, and completely heartbroken that no one had helped me sooner.

But everything changed when I arrived at Special Paws. They rushed me to the emergency vet and wrapped me in so much love and care. The vet said my damaged eye needed to be removed. I was terrified, but the kind humans at the sanctuary held me, whispered that I was safe, and stayed by my side every step of the way.

Thanks to generous hearts who donated, I had my big surgery. My painful eye was removed, and the infected one is slowly healing with daily antibiotic drops. The best part? There’s hope I might be able to see again one day. Every morning, the world gets a little brighter for me.

Now, I feel like a brand-new dog. I love to play, I adore belly rubs, and I’m finally enjoying being a happy little fluff again. All I need now is a kind, patient human to give me the forever home I’ve been dreaming of someone who sees past my scars and into my brave little heart.

My Special Needs:

1. Blind in right eye and partially blind in left eye.

1. Download & Complete the Application

Tell us about your lifestyle, experience, and the kind of canine character you’re after. The more detail, the better—we use this info to play matchmaker.

2. Application Review

Our team reviews every application with the scrutiny of a Border Collie at agility trials. If we need clarification, we’ll reach out.

3. Home Check

Once pre-approved, a volunteer will arrange an in-person home check. No white-glove inspection—just ensuring the space is safe, secure, and suited to the dog you’ve chosen (or who’s chosen you).

4. Adoption Agreement

Passed the home check? High-five! (Or high-paw.) We’ll send over the adoption agreement. It spells out your commitments and ours, so everyone—human and hound—knows where they stand.
